In the case of surveys - Well yes it can! But, is it worth all the hassle? You must have a clear idea of what you are trying to achieve and of the trustworthy sites that you will get paid from and what amounts you are likely to make. Writing Blogs? We'll see! Amazon

Becoming an associate of Amazon is a very simple process go to the home page and look for the link at the bottom of the page Join Associates. Joining is very straightforward and in next to no time you are ready to start putting links on your site.

The links to drive sales are varied from:

Search Boxes

Text Only which can be buried in your copy

Blog Marketing

Image and text links

Recommended Product Links

Banner Links

Or you might build an aStore like the one from my A life blog which is Joshty's Store

Generating links to products and placing them on your page is easy. The really difficult part is driving the traffic to your site in the first. I shall discuss this in a later blog.

Global Test Market

globaltestmarket.com provide regular survey opportunities, in the last 7 months I have received 76 invites. Sign up is really simple just by going to the site following the link above.

How Well Does it Pay?

For each survey undertaken you receive points in the range of 5 - 75 points (although 5 - 50 is more usual). You will get the the minimum number if you do not qualify for the survey after the first couple of questions or you will gather the most. The points you gather are worth 5 cents each and you can redeem them when you get to 1000 points (payable by cheque in your local currency).

The surveys are very easy to complete although I have not done many all the way through (probably not in the target age group for many surveys!).

You can help me earn extra money by sending me your e-mail address and I can have them send you a personalised invite (it only makes me a few cents) for you to respond to.

Googe Adsense Referal

Google AdSense is the classic way for bloggers, particularly those on Blogger, to include ad units and earn revenue. My own experience is that the revenue is quite small for my blogs but anything is better than nothing; I would be writing my blogs anyway! The main ways of making money through AdSense are:

  • Ad Units
  • Search
  • Referrals

The sign-up procedure is very simple but of course I want you to use the referral button on the side of this page to find that out!

How much do you earn?

From the Adsense site:
  • When a publisher who signed up for Google AdSense through your referral first earns $5 within 180 days of sign-up, you will be credited with $5.
  • When that same publisher earns $100 within 180 days of sign-up and is eligible for payout, you will be credited with an additional $250.

  • If in any 180-day period, you refer 25 publishers who each earn more than $100 within 180 days of their respective sign-ups and are all eligible for payout, you will be awarded a $2,000 bonus (bonus payouts are limited to 1 per year).

A very simple process which can earn money for minimal effort. The Adsense Help is very comprehensive and the whole process could not be simpler. If you do not have a Blogger account and need a GMail account first mail me at the address above and I will send you an invite.

You Gov

The first survey I joined was YouGov. In the last year I have had 56 invites to complete surveys; not all of these are for cash but some are for Prize Draw entries. For the cash paying surveys the reward is £0.50 to £1.00 but one was for £3.00.

There is an affiliate programme of sorts. For each new member that signs up via your personalised registration link, you will receive equivalent amounts in survey credit for each survey they complete during their first three months of membership. This is of course exactly what I want you to help me achieve by clicking on the link above. By joining by this link we both profit. You could of course just type in http://www.yougov.com to your browser and join directly - that way I get nothing for previewing the service!

Payment is not made until you reach £50 so it can take a while to reach that level. The surveys are very easy to complete taking only a few minutes.

YouGov is a solid listed company with an excellent reputation. If you are in for the long haul a good choice of survey to make a little money for next to no effort.

Introduction

This is a blog where I shall make some notes on my successes and disasters in trying to make some money on the web using affiliate programmes and participating in surveys.

Some of the ones I shall be covering will be the Google Adsense programme and Amazon Affiliates together with surveys such as YouGov.

This is not my main blog. The main ones I have are:

A Life - a record of Joshty's educational experiences.

Sportdaq Demons - A light-hearted look at my efforts in the BBC Sportdaq competition.
